2. Jacob Riis Park (AKA The People’s Beach) 4.5 Stars

Jacob Riis Park was named after the famous photographer and Journalist, author of the publications How the Other Half Lives (1890) and Children of the Poor (1892). The Beach has been dubbed “The People’s Beach” The park consists of a parking lot, picnicking and barbecuing areas, camping grounds, playgrounds, sport fields such as Baseball fields and basketball courts and even a golf course. The beach consist of 14 bays. Bay 1 is considered the “Adult” bay, which is home to many of NYC’s nudist. Events include Jacob Riis Park Bazaar (beachParty!), karaoke nights, oceanfront Okotoberfest, and much more!

Fun Fact- Jacob Riis Park was once used as a Military base.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach(Midland Beach and South Beach) 4.4 Stars

This beach is little a mini vacation. The beach is far enough from the chaos of New York City. This beach has much to offer such as picnicking and barbecuing areas, handball courts, playgrounds, golf course and fishing pier. There are sport fields and even kayak and canoe launch areas. Bring your best buddy and enjoy dog-friendly areas. The one thing Staten Islanders do love, are festivals and fairs. Catch one during the summer. You will find many event such as fireworks every Wednesday at sundown, free concerts, and much more.
